OBJECTIVES

The corporation aims to:

  • Formally recognise the partnership between Burrandies and the South East Aboriginal Focus Group (traditional custodians of the South East of South Australia) and acknowledge that the Lartara-wirkeri cultural governance framework will guide how Burrandies Aboriginal Corporation undertakes all business, and especially any and all business undertaken with the South East Aboriginal Focus Group and on behalf of the South East Aboriginal Focus Group.
  • Provide a cultural connection for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to improve knowledge and cultural identity.
  • Provide services to fill the gaps in mainstream programs.
  • Provide culturally safe and appropriate programs to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to nurture and support their families and community to improve educational outcomes.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership in the community and to foster unity and empowerment within the community.
  • Support the enhancement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's wellbeing and community safety.
  • Complement currently funded services.
  • Positively impact Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's participation in Australian Society.
  • Maintain culture and language; support healing and protect heritage.
  • Support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to break down barriers to increase their engagement and participation in Australian Society.
  • Provide ongoing support to connect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with training, employment and self-employment opportunities.
  • Enhance Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's economic growth by fostering Indigenous business and enterprise.
